CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

"Dance is the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, usually to music and within a given space, for the purpose of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking delight in the movement itself."

BALLET

Ballet Classes

Classical ballet emphasizes fluid, graceful movements and long lines, along with strict adherence to form and technique, especially turnout of the legs.

All Ballet classes perform in the year end Recital in June.

JAZZ

Jazz Classes

Jazz dancing is a form of dance that demonstrates a dancer's individual style and originality. Every Jazz dancer performs moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is not only energetic and fun but consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps, and quick turns.

All Jazz classes perform in the year end Recital in June.

TAP

Tap Classes

Tap dance is a style of dance in which rhythmic sounds are produced by moving the feet. shoes are worn with metal taps on the bottom, which produce the distinctive tap sound against the floor.

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY

Lyrical/Contemporary Classes

Lyrical dance is a dance style that embodies various aspects of ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern dance. Lyrical dance is associated with clearly displayed emotional moods, fast-moving choreographic strategies, illustration of song lyrics, and, in group form, exact unison. The style is usually danced at a faster pace than ballet but not as fast as jazz.

ACRO

Acro Classes

Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.

Acrobatics (from Greek Akros, high and bat, walking) involve movements that are a combination of difficult feats of balance, agility and coordination.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theatre Classes

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical â€“ humor, love, anger â€“ are communicated through words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole. In class we play drama games and learn routines while lip singing to songs.

All Musical Theatre classes will perform in the year end Recital in June.
